GENERAL INFORMATION

Nestled in the Faubourg Marigny, La Peniche opened its doors in 1981 to locals and visitors alike, as a true New Orleans neighborhood restaurant. Since then, it has attracted patrons from all neighborhoods in the city, the United States, and even the world. La Peniche is French for barge and rightfully named, as the walls in this 100 year old building are made of barge board that once carried cargo down river, giving this restaurant a feeling of being in Mom’s kitchen. Diners love the feeling of home with each table adorned with fresh flowers and handmade tablecloths, serving up local favorites like oysters la peniche and mouthwatering comfort foods like country fried steak.
